SENIOR SERVICES & MEDICARE RESOURCES

Medical equipment and Medicare: start here.

Medicare Part B may cover medically necessary durable medical equipment for use at home when coverage requirements are met. An item’s presence on a general equipment list does not guarantee coverage for every person or situation.

Before ordering equipment

Ask your treating professional what documentation is needed and confirm the supplier’s Medicare enrollment and assignment arrangements. Check coverage requirements and expected costs with the supplier and payer before ordering.

If you already use PAP equipment

Discuss current supply needs with your supplier. A routine reminder should lead to a documented conversation about need and any request, rather than an automatic shipment.

Know who can answer which question

Clinical or equipment-setting concerns belong with your qualified care team. Coverage and supplier questions go to the payer or supplier. This guide cannot determine eligibility or promise payment.

Common questions

Is every item free with Medicare?

No. Coverage conditions and patient costs vary. Confirm the specific item, documentation, supplier and costs before ordering.

Can GoHealth 360 approve equipment coverage?

No. GoHealth 360’s administrative support does not determine coverage or authorize fulfillment.
